DeepSeek Founder Liang Wenfeng to Meet Xi Jinping Amid AI Surge

Liang Wenfeng, founder of the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, is reportedly scheduled to meet with top politicians, including President Xi Jinping, at an upcoming summit that may take place as early as next week. The event, which Alibaba’s Jack Ma is also expected to attend, signals a potential shift in the Communist Party’s approach toward supporting domestic private-sector firms.

DeepSeek, established in 2023 under Liang’s quantitative hedge fund High-Flyer, gained attention last month for its AI models that outperformed those of major U.S. competitors like OpenAI. This rapid rise has raised alarms among U.S. officials, who view DeepSeek’s success as a challenge to America’s dominance in the AI sector.
