Meta Ventures into Humanoid Robotics with New Team

Meta is making strides in the robotics sector as it plans to develop humanoid robots. According to a Bloomberg report, a new team within Meta’s Reality Labs division will focus on creating hardware and software for robots designed to handle household chores.

The company aims to provide the AI, sensors, and software needed for these robots, which may not carry the Meta brand initially. They are in talks with robotics firms like Unitree Robotics and Figure AI. Andrew Bosworth, Meta’s CTO, emphasized that their existing technologies will enhance their robotics efforts.

As tech giants like Apple and Nvidia also explore robotics, Meta’s team will be led by Marc Whitten, previously of GM’s robotaxi initiative. This development comes as Meta continues its significant $65 billion investment in AI and boosts its smart glasses sales efforts. ✨
