Uber Sues DoorDash Over Alleged Anti-Competitive Practices ⚖️

Uber has filed a lawsuit against DoorDash, accusing its chief rival of using intimidation tactics to secure exclusive deals with restaurant owners. The lawsuit, submitted to California’s Superior Court, alleges that DoorDash pressures restaurants into exclusive agreements for delivery services, threatening them with hefty fines or lowered visibility on the DoorDash app.

According to Uber, DoorDash controls first-party deliveries for over 90% of major restaurants in the U.S., leveraging anti-competitive practices to dominate the market. Uber claims these tactics not only hurt its business but also restrict restaurant freedom, with many feeling like they have a “gun to their head.”

In response, DoorDash dismissed Uber’s claims as baseless, stating that they stem from Uber’s inability to provide a competitive alternative. Uber is seeking a jury trial and has not disclosed the damages sought, but it alleges significant financial losses due to DoorDash’s practices. ️
